Abstract

The 7th Forum on Stakeholder Confidence (FSC) National Workshop and Community Visit was held on 7-9 April 2009 in Bar-le-Duc, France. It was organized with the assistance of the CLIS (the Local Information and Oversight Committee of the Bure Laboratory) and the financial and logistical support of Andra, France's National Agency for the Management of Radioactive Waste Amongst the participants were representatives of local and regional government, civil society organizations, universities, waste management agencies, institutional authorities and some 20 FSC delegates from 13 countries and the European Commission.
The workshop focused on the territorial implementation of France's high-level and long-lived intermediate-level waste management programme. Sessions addressed the French historical and legislative context, public information, reversibility, environmental monitoring and the issue of memory. The workshop also included a visit to the site of the underground laboratory located at Bure-Saudron, a reception by the Mayor of Bure and a dinner debate with the president of a local industry organization.
The synthesis is provided under the responsibility of the NEA Secretariat. It relies on verbatim notes taken during plenary sessions and accounts by assigned delegates. This synthesis has also been supported by the presentations and manuscripts kindly provided in good time by all the speakers. All these documents, in French or in English, are accessible online through the FSC web page (www.nea.fr/html/rwm/fsc/).
