WASTE PACKAGE PROBABILISTIC CRITICALITY ANALYSIS-SUMMARY REPORT OF EVALUATIONS IN 1997.pdf (3.68 MB) | 3.68 MB |
Abstract
The purpose of this document is to summarize the degraded waste package disposal criticality evaluations which were reported in FY 1997 (Refs. 2-6), and to explain how those evaluations have served to further develop various aspects of the overall methodology for such evaluations. The objective of this document is to show how the individual studies reported in FY 1997 fit into the overall criticality evaluation methodology, and to use the results of these studies to demonstrate that the probability of occurrence of criticality is very small, and that the consequences of such criticality (if it were to occur) would be so small as to be unnoticeable from outside the repository.
