Dry Canister Storage System Nondestructive Evaluation Inspection Workshop
You are cordially invited to a workshop on inspections of welded stainless steel used fuel dry storage canisters. The Dry Cask Storage System (DCSS) Nondestructive Examination (NDE) Workshop will take place at EPRI’s Charlotte, North Carolina facility starting at 1pm on Monday, September 29th and conclude at 12pm on Wednesday, October 1st. EPRI is inviting regulators, industry (utilities, dry storage system vendors, NDE specialists), universities, and members of the US Department of Energy’s Used Fuel Disposition Campaign (UFDC).
US Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board (NWTRB) Fall Board Meeting
The U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board will meet in Augusta, Georgia, on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, to review U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) activities related to managing DOE spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and high-level radioactive waste (HLW). Among the topics that will be discussed at the meeting is work underway at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in South Carolina related to storage and processing of DOE SNF and vitrification and storage of HLW at the SRS.
2014 Extended Storage Collaboration Program Meeting
Study the long-term degradation of used fuel storage systems to develop the technical basis for extended storage well beyond the current license period; share knowledge and research; coordinate research activities among ESCP participants.
Goal/expected outcome of this meeting: Planning for extended storage of used fuel.
