The U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board will hold an open public meeting in Richland, Washington, on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, to review information on U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) activities related to vitrifying high-level radioactive waste (HLW) stored at the Hanford facility in preparation for eventual disposal in a deep geologic repository. State, local, and regional public organizations have been invited to provide their perspectives on the most important technical issues associated with disposal of wastes from the Hanford site.

Who Should Attend?
Nuclear plant fuel managers; dry fuel storage project managers; used fuel cask designers; utility licensing and compliance personnel; used fuel storage, transportation, and disposal consultants; architect engineers; pool-to-pad services companies; hardware suppliers; government agency managers, technical experts, contractors, stakeholders and international experts responsible for used nuclear fuel management issues.

Sessions in the following areas are planned:

The conference is a forum for the discussion of the scientific, technical, social and regulatory aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle. Relevant topics include global utilization of nuclear energy, current fuel cycle technologies, advanced reactors, advance fuel cycles, nuclear nonproliferation and public acceptance. The conference is an opportunity for an exchange of information on current topics of interest among the international participants in nuclear fuel cycle activities.

This workshop will start with panel sessions discussing Nuclear and Radiological Security Culture under INFCIRC/225/Revision 5 and other IAEA Nuclear Security Series documents from four different aspects:

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Transportation Stakeholders Forum (NTSF) scheduled for May 14-16, 2013. This annual event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located near the downtown business and entertainment districts in Buffalo, New York.
